Forming furniture from burl is a new avenue of creativity for Brian Markham. This Maple Burl table was commissioned by customers who envisioned a specific place and size for their table. It was to be small, big enough for two cups of morning coffee, and it was to fit between their easy chairs.
Brian and the couple found just the right burl. They maintained the integrity of the rounded raw-edge form and finished only the top. The base was designed in the shape of tree branches and maple leaves, and Brian had it forged by blacksmith artist, Matt Church of The Artisan’s Gallery.
The resulting table is a beautiful, functional piece of art.
