Entertaining friends in your home or at the cottage often involves casual conversation, setting out food and sharing a glass of wine. A hand-made wooden cheese board makes the presentation of your food beautiful and much more appetizing.
When choosing wood for cheese boards, I look for interesting grain, contrasts in colour and figuring, and a raw bark edge. I sand the boards until I have a clear, smooth finish and then apply many coats of food-safe oil with a final coat of buffed wax.
The one-of-a kind chacuterie or cheese boards are rustic serving pieces with their natural finishes and and imperfections. My hand-made knives and small raw edge bowls accompany the boards to complete the presentation.
My cheese boards will be available at the Artists of the Limberlost Open Studio Weekend or every Tuesday in July and August from 10 am to 4 pm. Drop by to see my selection or call me at 705-635-3190 to set up an appointment.
